On the 20th August, Bro Abel Sisya had the unique experience of being raised to the 3rd degree in the presence of two Grand Masters.
The Grand Master of the Grand East of the Netherlands visited South Africa briefly while on route to Zimbabwe and made use of the opportunity to visit a lodge belonging to the Grand Lodge of South Africa in the process. Lodge Star of the Rand, the oldest GLSA Lodge in Johannesburg was chosen for the purpose and it was fortunate that they had planned a 3rd degree working for their meeting that evening as the Lodge still works the Grand East of the Netherlands 3rd degree working in English with dispensation from the Grand Lodge.
Resultantly the working was a particularly special evening which the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Wor Bro Marius Mostert attended with a Provincial Grand Lodge delegation and the Grand Master MW Bro Godfrey Place led a Grand Lodge delegation accompanied by the MW Grand Master of the Grand East of the Netherlands, MW Bro Leonard Jonkers.
The attendance of numerous other brethren from both the Grand Lodge of South Africa and the UGLE added to the occasion.
The evening was concluded with a well attended Festive board at which MW Bro Godfrey Place presented MW Bro Leonard Jonkers with a book detailing the 250 years history of the Grand Lodge of South Africa, all the way back to it’s early days when it’s Lodges were part of the Grand East of the Nethrelands.
